The "KA9Q NOS" networking package is copyright 1992 by Phil Karn, KA9Q.
All rights reserved. Permission is hereby granted for the free copying
and use of this package by radio amateurs and non-profit educational
institutions. I.e., to hams and schools, it is "freeware".

Use of this software by commercial or governmental organizations is on a
"shareware" -- not freeware -- basis. That is, a prospective commercial
or governmental user may copy and evaluate the software for his or her
application. If it is to be used beyond evaluation purposes, it must be
registered for $50/copy (see address below).

The right conferred by the registration fee to use the software in a
commercial or government organization is limited to those portions of
the NOS package that are the sole work of Phil Karn, KA9Q. Certain
portions of the package, in particular the email subsystem, were
contributed by others with the understanding that they would be used for
amateur radio and educational purposes only. Any commercial or
governmental use of these portions requires an agreement with the
appropriate author(s). Each source code file includes an appropriate
authorship and copyright statement.

In several cases, the contributing authors have placed their code into
the public domain. This is the case with the PPP and VJ header
compression code contributed by Katie Stevens and Bill Simpson. This
code may be freely used by anyone. Again, see the comments in the
various source files for details.

NOS is provided without warranty of any kind. The prospective user is
responsible for testing and evaluating it to see if it meets his or her
needs. The payment of the registration fee merely grants the user the
right to use the software as-is; it does not obligate me to provide any
assistance or support.

OEM licenses for the inclusion of part or all of the Karn-authored
portions of NOS into commercial networking software products are
available on an individually negotiated basis. Discounted site licenses
